AHARI
The name
From Basque mythology, Ahari was an elf in the shape of a ram who went out at night to scare people for fun. In this case, Oxer wanted to show in the elf a small nod to the painting ‘Guernica’ by Pablo Picasso.
VARIETIES
70% Tempranillo and 30% Graciano
PRODUCTION
5,300 bottles of 0.75 cl.
VINEYARD
Very old Tempranillo vineyards, with Graciano from slightly younger plots, on clay-calcareous soils in Rioja Alavesa, with low yields per hectare.
VINIFICATION
Fermentation with indigenous yeasts in foudres and subsequent aging in used 500 and 225 liter French oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation takes place. Subsequent aging of 12 months in the same barrels.
TASTING NOTES
Black and red fruit, floral notes, sweet spices together with well-integrated wood give it complexity, together with a pleasantly fresh acidity and fine-grained tannin structure. On the palate black fruit, sweet spices, violets and a touch of leather. An intense and lively wine.
