Alma Tobía Author White Barrel Fermented
Bodegas Tobía is a project based on the passion for making quality wines, and the love for a land named after wine.
After the first location in the family facilities of San Asensio, Bodegas Tobía moves to Cuzcurrita de Río Tirón in search of the ideal environment that our wines demand. A necessary change marked by the philosophy that Óscar Tobía intends to instill in his creations: modern facilities for the production of modern and complex wines marked by the location and quality of the land.
WINEMAKING
The 2016 harvest has been of high quality and also of high productivity, largely due to the fertility of flowering and grain set that was maintained until the end of ripening. This high fertility was reflected in larger grain sizes and larger bunch size. The most remarkable fact of this vintage was the slow maturation of the vineyards, which together with an excellent climate during the maturation period (September-October), allowed us to extend the harvest until early November and with them obtain a harvest of excellent quality , absent of pests and diseases and with an optimal maturation. The harvest of the Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc vineyards took place on October 1, and that of the Viura vineyards was on October 9 and 10.
ELABORATION
Meticulous vinification of each grape variety separately. Initial vatting of the grapes with a peculiar cold maceration for 36 hours. Bleeding of the must “tear” Soft alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature, in new French oak barrels of very fine grain from Tronçais. Aging for 7 months in the same barrels with periodic stirring of its fine lees. Final assembly of the wines from each of the three varieties.
TASTING NOTES
Bright and intense straw yellow color. Intense, deep, subtle and frank aroma of quince, pineapple, citrus, pear and dried apricots on a honeyed background of toffees and biscuits. The aromas of oak are very well integrated with the fruit, providing a very fine and elegant nose. The entry into the mouth is sweet, unctuous and voluminous. It presents great freshness, with sensations of great fullness and roundness. The passage through the mouth is broad, long and very persistent.
Limited production: 24 barrels.
