MATALAZ
The name
Matalaz was a priest who led a popular revolt of the people against the nobility, in favor of the interests of the peasants, but who failed in his fight against the French army. He was beheaded and his head was hung at the entrance of the city as a warning to the people.

90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano

3,800 bottles of 0.75 cl.
VINEYARD
Old vineyards between 50 and 80 years old in the town of Lapuebla de Labarca (Rioja Alavesa) with pebble soils. Old-fashioned mixed plantation with very low yields per hectare.
VINIFICATION
Fermentation with indigenous yeasts in a vat with 20% stems. It undergoes malolactic fermentation in used 500L French oak barrels. Subsequent aging for 8 months in 500L barrels for various uses.
TASTING NOTES
Red fruit with marked floral notes reminiscent of the wines of the year from the towns of Rioja Alavesa. Pleasantly fresh acidity, fine and long on the palate. Very subtle wine.
