Matarromera Winery
In Valbuena de Duero, the cradle of Tempranillo in the Ribera del Duero, the roots of Bodega Matarromera are settled, on the side of a hill facing south, from which the impassive River Duero can be seen. This cozy winery is the perfect setting for the production of aging wines, since the conditions provided by its semi-buried warehouses are perfect for the production of wines in which the balance between the oak and the Tempranillo is the protagonist. The first vintage of Bodega Matarromera obtained the Great Gold Medal at the International Wine Competition, which was an incredible starting point for a story plagued with success.
Heiress to a privileged vineyard in one of the most exclusive areas of the Ribera del Duero, Bodega Matarromera is dedicated to the production of large reserve, reserve and aging red wines, and a white wine, with total personality and excellence. Its wines are the result of the perfect mesh between the creative genius of nature and the obstinacy of a man to recover the family tradition, collect and perpetuate a legacy.
Matarromera Crianza
VINEYARD
The Tempranillo with which Matarromera Crianza is made comes from several estates located between Olivares and Valbuena de Duero (Valladolid). These are La Aguilera, Tejares, Martinete or El Badén. They are vineyards very close to the Duero that produce a high quality grape that, year after year, contributes its characteristic flavor to Matarromera Crianza.
Excellence in every glass. Matarromera Crianza, in addition to being a wine, is almost a cult. Its first vintage, 1994, won the title of Best Wine in the World in an international competition organized by the Spanish International Wine Organization (OIVE). Since then, this 100% Tempranillo has been one of Matarromera’s hallmarks.
The identity of the terroir from which it comes surprises us with this wine: historic Matarromera vineyards, limestone and clay soils in a harsh climate with large temperature fluctuations. What’s more:
• Balance: Between the maturity of the fruit and its aging in the barrel.
• Wood: Rests in selected French and American oak barrels, fine-grained and lightly toasted, to respect
maximum expression of the fruit. After aging, this wine finishes refining in the bottle.
• Aromas of ripe black fruit and mild spices of rosemary and clove. • It is tasty, intense and very long lasting. Persistence and balance.
Its success is in its Tempranillo grape. It comes from vineyards very close to the Duero River that produce a high quality grape.
How to pair it? In addition to Iberian cheese and ham, we offer any type of meat, both white and red. But it is also perfect for pasta or rice dishes.
