Matarromera Winery
In Valbuena de Duero, the cradle of Tempranillo in the Ribera del Duero, the roots of Bodega Matarromera are settled, on the side of a hill facing south, from which the impassive River Duero can be seen. This cozy winery is the perfect setting for the production of aging wines, since the conditions provided by its semi-buried warehouses are perfect for the production of wines in which the balance between the oak and the Tempranillo is the protagonist. The first vintage of Bodega Matarromera obtained the Great Gold Medal at the International Wine Competition, which was an incredible starting point for a story plagued with success.
Heiress to a privileged vineyard in one of the most exclusive areas of the Ribera del Duero, Bodega Matarromera is dedicated to the production of large reserve, reserve and aging red wines, and a white wine, with total personality and excellence. Its wines are the result of the perfect mesh between the creative genius of nature and the obstinacy of a man to recover the family tradition, collect and perpetuate a legacy.
Matarromera Grand Reserve
VINEYARD
San Román is one of the most emblematic vineyards in Matarromera and surrounds the winery in the municipality of Valbuena de Duero, on a steep limestone slope above the Duero River. Finca de las Celadillas is located in Olivares de Duero, also very close to the winery. Both plots have traditional Tempranillo strains that give rise to Matarromera Gran Reserva.
The power to capture time. Because this red wine does not go on the market until 6 or 7 years after its harvest. For this alone, the experience is already different. But, despite the passage of time, Matarromera Gran Reserva, made in the Ribera del Duero, is a wine that has been modernized thanks to the elegance provided by its aging in predominantly French barrels of the highest quality and roundness that the bottle gives it. Let’s get to the point:
Manual harvest in boxes of 12 kilos and triple selection: First in each plot, after each cluster and, finally, grain by grain.
Fermentation with native yeasts from their own plots.
We love its vivid cherry-colored trim.
On the nose, a multitude of fruity sensations in perfect harmony with touches of soft caramel, beeswax…
Complex in flavors among which the fresh red blackberries and fine dark chocolate stand out.
It is one of the wines with a singular personality since they are born, which they maintain and forge over the years.
