Matarromera Winery
In Valbuena de Duero, the cradle of Tempranillo in the Ribera del Duero, the roots of Bodega Matarromera are settled, on the side of a hill facing south, from which the impassive River Duero can be seen. This cozy winery is the perfect setting for the production of aging wines, since the conditions provided by its semi-buried warehouses are perfect for the production of wines in which the balance between the oak and the Tempranillo is the protagonist. The first vintage of Bodega Matarromera obtained the Great Gold Medal at the International Wine Competition, which was an incredible starting point for a story plagued with success.
Heiress to a privileged vineyard in one of the most exclusive areas of the Ribera del Duero, Bodega Matarromera is dedicated to the production of large reserve, reserve and aging red wines, and a white wine, with total personality and excellence. Its wines are the result of the perfect mesh between the creative genius of nature and the obstinacy of a man to recover the family tradition, collect and perpetuate a legacy.
Matarromera Prestigio
VINEYARD
Matarromera Prestigio is the conception of grapes from the emblematic Matarromera terroir “Pago de las Solanas”. Plot of very limestone soil and steep south-facing slope, close to 20%. The excellent sunshine and its location in a peculiar narrowing of the Duero valley, which concentrates the convection winds every day, makes this plot unique.
Find inspiration in every detail. Matarromera Prestigio was born with a triple objective: To create a unique, special, different wine that reflects its excellent vineyards in Valbuena de Duero; breaking the rules of wine aging (crianza, reserva, gran reserva…), and satisfying the creative desire of its author. In this sense, it is only made in those vintages that are considered excellent. Although it is a wine that follows its own rules, its philosophy is based on aging for nine months in French oak barrels and nine months in American oak. Afterwards, it rests for two years in the bottle. The enormous quality and uniqueness of its grapes and the care with which its harvest is carried out are taken, at this point, for granted. What does the author of this unique red wine from Ribera del Duero surprise us with?
• On the nose, its clear touches of China ink and imposing freshness.
• In the mouth we can underline the extraordinary persistence of its flavor. At the end, the touches of spices typical of the French barrel, such as cloves and thyme, come to the fore.
• Intense, again from the limestone terroir, with clear Mediterranean influences in its maturity and elegant concentration that awakens the senses. Peculiar and special, like any work of art. Comprehensive experience. One word: exclusivity.
It is an ideal wine to surprise you and surprise you and accompany a good Castilian roast suckling lamb or a good cured cheese.
