BAIGORRI Garnacha
The winery is designed to fully respect the integrity and richness of the grapes. Located in the town of Samaniego and under the Sierra de Cantabria is Bodegas BAIGORRI, a glass box perfectly integrated into its surroundings, which emerges in an emblematic place in the Rioja Alavesa. Inside, the winery has the most advanced technology, the result of technical experimentation. It is framed within a process of continuous improvement and develops numerous research projects.
The great contribution of the Mazuelo variety makes this wine really different from what BAIGORRI has accustomed us to. A new definition of freshness and elegance in a red wine, highlighting fine tannins and a great aromatic complexity, fulfilling all the parameters of a pure avant-garde wine.
ELABORATION
A monovarietal Garnacha that seeks both the maximum expression of the Rioja varietal origins, as well as the uniqueness of our vineyards, applying the most avant-garde production techniques. A wine that reflects, thanks to the height of its vineyard and the age of the vines, the nuances of freshness and elegance of the Garnacha variety. Red wine made with Garnacha grapes from old vines over 65 years old.
After a manual and selective harvest, the destemmed grapes have been selected by hand, grain by grain, using vibration and weight selection tables. Long macerations and intracellular fermentations with native yeasts in oak vats. Natural pumping over and final extraction by gravity. Malolactic fermentation and aging for 14 months in new French oak barrels of various sizes (225l. / 500l. / 600l.).
TASTING NOTES
Intense floral and red fruit notes, with great complexity and harmony of nuances. On the palate it is unctuous, elegant, enveloping and has a great expression with a long and mineral finish, with high persistence on the palate.
