Finca Los Hoyales Cruz of Alba
FINCA LOS HOYALES is a complex and elegant signature wine, with a modern cut and a delicate structure. It is a sector of approximately 1.8 ha in our Los Hoyales farm located in the municipality of Padilla de Duero next to the N-122 that connects Peñafiel and Valladolid. This plot corresponds to the oldest vineyard on the estate, with vines planted 53 years ago. The soil is very sandy and it is the easternmost corner that borders a small pine forest. In the winter months and on windy days, it is not uncommon to see a pinyon pineapple rolling through the vineyards, and when spring breaks, wild asparagus usually appear on the edges of the pine forest.
This piece of land has been demonstrating its uniqueness since we began to make wine on this estate: the vines give us very few grapes and their appearance does not fool anyone and it is easy to see the passage of time in its woody, twisted, knotty and dark, which contrasts strongly with the whiteness of its white and sandy soil. When the vineyard location has it all, what more could you ask for? It is not necessary to intervene just because the soil being poor, the plant regulates itself to meet its needs and always extract the most. Not without effort, it’s true, but isn’t it what costs us the most what we like the most?
Manual harvest with selection of bunches in the field. Gentle destemming and fermentation in oak barrels. Malolactic in new French oak barrels. Subsequently, the wine remained in the barrel, aging on its lees for 22 months without racking, only a gentle periodic stirring. The wine was then bottled unfiltered, where it rested for 10 months before its launch.
It has a marked bright red color with violet notes and a medium layer, it shows a fine and elegant nose of black fruit, followed by spicy notes and hints of mountain that assemble
with an elegant and subtle wood. Tasty in the mouth, it shows a noble and structured character, with sensations of black fruit.
and roasted, ending in a harmonic and mature tannin, leaving us a seductive wine sensation.
16-18 ° C. It goes perfectly with cured cheeses, red and white meats, sausages and game dishes.
