Vina Ardanza Reserve
HARVEST
This harvest was characterized by the high quality of the grapes accompanied by a very moderate production. Thanks to exceptional climatology, during the whole cycle we enjoyed conditions that favored a wonderful state of health. Our grapes evolved optimally with balanced parameters of degree, alcohol and acidity. Thus, the Garnacha of our estate La Pedriza was especially favored by the elongation in its phase of maturation.
VINEYARDS
The Tempranillo grape (80%) comes from our farms La Cuesta and Montecillo, 30 years old, located in Fuenmayor and Cenicero. For the first time in the blend of this brand, Grenache (20%) comes from the term La Pedriza in Tudelilla (Rioja Baja) at 550 m above sea level. This estate of 67 hectares has excellent conditions for the cultivation of this variety and is planted on a very poor soil covered with pebbles that, with reduced yields (below 5,000 kg / ha), offers us a grape of great variety , Very rich in aromas and pleasant and fine structure.
ELABORATION AND BREEDING
The harvest of these plots began in mid-October. The grapes were collected by hand and transported in refrigerated trucks to the cellar. The alcoholic fermentation was carried out naturally and at controlled temperature. The malolactic fermentation concluded at the end of the year. In March 2009, the selected wines went into the barrel, starting their breeding separately: the Tempranillo for 36 months, with six manual raisings and in American oak of 4 years of average age and Garnacha for 30 months, with 5 manual raisings, in Barrels of 2 and 3 wines of American oak. After the aging in barrel, the final blend was bottled in March 2013.
TASTING NOTES
Its cherry red color is intense, bright and clean. The first impression on the nose is of great freshness thanks to notes of cherry and casis that are assembled with notes of black pepper, tobacco, nutmeg, coffee, caramel and vanilla of aging in barrel. Friendly entrance in the mouth, tasty, soft freshness, pleasant structure, balanced in acidity and with fine and elegant tannins. Silky finish, with good aftertaste, where the licorice notes of black currant, roasted and sweet spices make this edition so special of Viña Ardanza, a fine and elegant wine
