Conde de los Andes Tempranillo
VINEYARD
Location: high-rise plots in the ‘Viñas de Briñas’ area, between the terms of Briñas (Rioja Alta) and Labastida (Rioja Alavesa). With a continental Mediterranean climate with a marked
Atlantic influence. After a dry and warm summer cycle, the prolonged harvest of 2016 benefited from a favorable time to obtain a quality harvest, classified by the Regulatory Council as “Very Good”.
Soils: clay-calcareous, with an optimal degree of acidity to achieve lively and expressive aromas.
Variety: 100% Tempranillo, with an average age of 50 years.
ELABORATION
Harvest: manual harvest and in boxes, carried out at the beginning of October. Fermentation for 21 days in stainless steel tanks with daily pump-overs to achieve more extraction and greater intensity of color. Aged for 14 months in French oak barrels (half of the barrels are new) and 12 months of evolution in the bottle.
TASTING NOTES
Cherry red color of great intensity, clear and bright. On the nose an explosive aromatic richness of red fruits, ripe plums and undergrowth scrub. On the palate it is structured and very fresh, with a persistent and attractive finish. A serious flavor and at the same time very drinkable. Long, juicy and very pleasant aftertaste. Alcohol: 14.5% Vol.
PAIRING
Powerful flavored pasta and rice. Iberian sausages and cured cheeses. Roasted and grilled meats: beef cutlet, Iberian pork and pork chops, lamb chops with vine shoots. Meat and game stews. Very suitable to accompany the desktop. Service at 18ºC.
